Carmel's athletic teams are named Corsairs, and the school's colors are brown, gold, and white. Carmel competes in the East Suburban Catholic Conference in its interscholastic athletics program. The school sponsors both men's and women's teams in basketball, cross country, golf, lacrosse, soccer, swimming, tennis, track and field, and volleyball.

The 1927 game between Mt. Carmel and Carl Schurz High School drew an estimated 50,000 fans; the largest crowd to see a prep football contest in American history up to that time. [1] In subsequent years, larger crowds were drawn to the annual game. The 1937 game attracted a high school football record crowd as large as 120,000.
The rest of the schools are coed, and are represented in the ESCC by both their men's and women's teams. Marian Central Catholic High School joined at the end of 2013-2014 football season for all sports except football. Marian Central Catholic began competing in the ESCC for football in the 2014–2015 season.
Byron's entire football program, from fifth grade all the way up to the high school varsity team, lost a total of two games this year. Like I may have mentioned: Wow.
