St. Peter's Seminary is Canada's oldest English-speaking Roman Catholic diocesan seminary. Since it was founded by the Diocese of London in 1912, the seminary has produced more than 1,000 priests (including 23 who became bishops) and has educated permanent deacons and lay graduates.
The Montreal School of Theology is an ecumenical collegiate seminary located in Montreal, Quebec. Its three colleges – United Theological College, The Presbyterian College , and the Montreal Diocesan Theological College – are autonomous, and each is representative of a particular denomination.
The Vrije Universiteit has co-sponsored and co-supervised some ICS doctoral degrees. The Institute is also an affiliated institution to the Toronto School of Theology [2] at the University of Toronto. The Toronto School of Theology allows students to take a certain number of credits towards their degree from external institutions, including ICS.
The seminary was originally created to prepare candidates for Lutheran ministry in Western Canada. It is supported by the four Western synods of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada. LTS provides training for pastors and diaconal ministers; offers Lutheran formation for leaders and laypeople; and advances the study of rural ministry.
The school has its origins in the Institut Biblique VIE, founded in May 1999 in Quebec City by the Christian and Missionary Alliance of Canada. [1] The committee wanted to be innovative, and give students a chance to put what they learn into practice, and involve the local church in their own leaders' training rather than taking them out of the church for several years.
