South Pasadena is a city in Los Angeles County, California, United States.As of the 2010 census, it had a population of 25,619, up from 24,292 in the 2000 census. It is located in West San Gabriel Valley.
Two of Pasadena's historic bridges, the Colorado Street Bridge, built in 1913 and known for its distinctive Beaux Arts arches, light standards, and railings, and the La Loma Bridge, built in 1914, are among the sites listed on the Register. Thirty-one of Pasadena's listings are historic districts, which include multiple contributing properties.
Southeastern Pasadena refers to the neighborhoods east of Marengo Avenue and Downtown Pasadena, south of Downtown and the 210 Freeway, and west of Eaton Wash. Southeast Pasadena is served by Metro Local lines 180, 267 and 662. It is also served by Pasadena Transit routes 10, 20 and 60 and Foothill Transit line 187.
Although many South Pasadena residents opposed the division of the city that the parkway would bring, the city's voters elected supporters in the 1936 elections. The state, which had the power to put the road where it wished even had South Pasadena continued to oppose it, approved the route on April 4, 1936.
The area of present-day El Sereno, south to Twining Street, was included as part of the City of South Pasadena during its incorporation on February 29, 1888. A vote taken on September 28, 1889, however, excluded from the city limits all land south of West Alhambra Road (effective October 2, 1889).
This segment runs from California Boulevard in Pasadena north to its northern terminus at SR 134 and I-210. It remains unsigned, except for onramps onto the stub which are signed as onramps onto I-210 instead of SR 710.
