The site is owned by the Louisville Metro government, and operated as a historic interpretive site by Historic Locust Grove, Inc. The main feature on the property is the ca. 1790 Georgian mansion that was the home of the Croghan family and gathering place for George Rogers Clark , Lewis and Clark , and U.S. Presidents .
Sayner has an area of 1.828 square miles (4.73 km 2); 1.826 square miles (4.73 km 2) of this is land, and 0.002 square miles (0.0052 km 2) is water. Sayner got its name from Orrin W. Sayner, who settled the area in 1891, two years before any other settlers took up homes in the town. [3]
