Nestlé Purina PetCare was formed in December 2001, [4] when Nestlé acquired Ralston Purina for $10.3 billion and merged it with Nestlé's pet food business, Friskies PetCare Company. [4] Ralston had marketed the Dog Chow, Cat Chow and Pro Plan pet food brands, while Nestlé produced Friskies and Alpo brand pet foods.
Fortunately, Purina hasn’t issued a voluntary recall on any of its cat food products in 2024. Additionally, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) so far hasn’t mandated Purina to issue a recall.
Friskies PetCare Company was a division of Nestlé founded in 1985 that produced pet food. In 2001, it merged with Ralston Purina and became Nestlé Purina PetCare after Nestlé acquired all the outstanding shares of Ralston Purina.
