In bioinformatics and biochemistry, the FASTA format is a text-based format for representing either nucleotide sequences or amino acid (protein) sequences, in which nucleotides or amino acids are represented using single-letter codes.
PlasMapper (Plasmid Mapper) [1] is a freely available web server that automatically generates and annotates high-quality circular plasmid maps. It is a particularly useful online service for molecular biologists wishing to generate plasmid maps without having to purchase or maintain expensive, commercial software.
FASTA is a DNA and protein sequence alignment software package first described by David J. Lipman and William R. Pearson in 1985. [1] Its legacy is the FASTA format which is now ubiquitous in bioinformatics .

The full text of each paper is read, and information is extracted and added to the entry. Annotation arising from the scientific literature includes, but is not limited to: [10] [13] [14] Protein and gene names; Function; Enzyme-specific information such as catalytic activity, cofactors and catalytic residues; Subcellular location; Protein ...
The reads may be paired or unpaired, with arbitrary length and insert size, output in fasta or fastq, RandomReads has a wide selection of options for mutation rates, with individual settings for substitution, deletion, insertion, and N rates and length distributions, annotating reads with their original, unmutated genomic start and stop location.

The FASTA icon marked with an asterisk ‘*’ contains FASTA sequences for taxa H and I lacking color selection (i.e. achromatic) or lacking annotation. For figure clarity annotation ‘Group1’ to ‘Group4’ are reported G1 to G4 within FASTA file icons. FASTA files output to different folders are delimited by dashed boxes. [1] Fig. 1
