Bullmoose was a Canadian rock band formed in Elgin, Ontario in 1996. Its members were twin brothers Jeff Cowan (drums/vocals) and Seamus Cowan (bass/vocals) from Westport, Ontario, and Eric Lawrance (guitar/vocals) from Delta, Ontario, who launched the band when they attended school in Montreal.

Originally pitched as an idea to create an event similar to Free Comic Book Day [2] by Bull Moose Music's Chris Brown and Criminal Records' Eric Levin, the concept for Record Store Day was created during a brainstorming session at a meeting of independent record store owners in Baltimore, Maryland.
In early July, the final track list (minus the bonus track "Happy") was posted on Bull Moose Music's website along with the cover art and a link to pre-order the album. The band released the album on July 24, 2007, to all ten Bull Moose Music stores across the state the day of a special in-store acoustic performance.
Benny began his education at the Cleveland School of Music, studying with a famous jazz composer George Russell. Benny formed a group in high school called Counts of Rhythm in 1942 with Willie Smith. Benny also played in Bull Moose Jackson's band, but he felt unsatisfied with his performance.
