Elk Mountain Ski Resort is a ski area in the Endless Mountains on the summit of Elk Hill in Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania. It is located 30 mi (48 km) north of Scranton . The mountain has been given favorable reviews from Ski Magazine , including a listing in "Six Unsung Heroes", a roundup of hidden gems in skiing.
The first resort to respond was Vail Ski Resort, which hired him to paint a new trail map. [6] [7] The first ski map that he designed and painted by himself was Boreal Mountain Resort in California; as of 2016, Niehues' map was still in use, 29 years after it was created. [8] He retired completely in 2021. [9]
Elk Hill rises conspicuously above the surrounding landscape. The mountain actually has two peaks. The main summit of North Knob is 2,693 feet (821 m), and the lower summit known as South Knob is 2,602 feet (793 m). [2] It is home to Elk Mountain Ski Area which has a 1,000 feet (305 m) vertical drop and 27 ski trails.

[1] The community was located on a ridge just west of Stillhouse Branch and approximately 1 ⁄ 2 mile (0.80 kilometers) south of the South Prong Jacks Fork. The community of Hattie was about 1 + 1 ⁄ 2 miles (2.4 km) to the northeast on the South Prong.
