Doncaster Demonstration Forest is located at Nanjemoy in Charles County, Maryland. It is on the north side of Port Tobacco Road, due east of Gilroy Road, and the west side of Gilroy Road, south of the Gilroy Road and Port Tobacco road intersection. [2] Doncaster is 12 miles (19 km) west of La Plata off of Maryland Route 6.
Purse State Park is a former Maryland state park located on the Potomac River in Charles County that has been subsumed into the 1,365-acre (552 ha) Nanjemoy Wildlife Management Area. [3] As the Purse Area, the former park is known for fossil hunting on the beaches of Wades Bay at the southern end of the Nanjemoy WMA.
Access to the ships is through Mallows Bay Park, operated by the county, located at 1440 Wilson Landing Road in Nanjemoy, Maryland. A 0.8-mile (1.3 km) trail loops around the park and the salvage basin. In 2010, a boat ramp and pier for recreational use was constructed to provide access to the Potomac River.
