The species is common in Canada (from Quebec to British Columbia ), northeast Mexico ( Coahuila , Nuevo León , Tamaulipas ), and most of the United States , especially the Great Plains and Southern States .
Coreopsis verticillata is a North American species of tickseed in the sunflower family. It is found primarily in the east-central United States , from Maryland south to Georgia , with isolated populations as far west as Oklahoma and as far north as Québec and Ontario . [ 2 ]

The stem of Coreopsis gigantea is a trunk up to 1 metre (3 + 1 ⁄ 2 feet) tall, and 4–10 centimetres (1 + 1 ⁄ 2 –4 inches) in diameter. The plant can reach 3 m (10 ft) high by 0.61 m (2 ft) wide. [6] [7] It is summer deciduous, leaving a sculptural bare trunk and branches during the dry season.
Coreopsis latifolia, a rhizomatous perennial herb, grows up to 1.5 metres (4.9 ft) tall. The leaves are oval and may exceed 20 centimetres (7.9 in) long by 10 centimetres (3.9 in) wide. [5] The inflorescence is a corymb [3] of flower heads, each with five phyllaries which may be over a centimeter long.
