Lahore Zoo Safari was opened on January 21, 2009, [15] a renovation of Lahore Wildlife Park (also called Woodland Wildlife Park) which was established in 1982. [16] The Safari Park is located near Raiwind Road about 30 km (19 mi) from the Lahore Zoo. [17]
A ticket system was introduced in the wildlife park so that the Lahore Zoo Safari could become a semi-autonomous, self-financed organization. [4] The park was extensively renovated and renamed Lahore Zoo Safari on January 21, 2009. [3] The wildlife park is now considered to be an extension of Lahore Zoo.
