The Septuagint version of the Old Testament is a translation of the Septuagint by Sir Lancelot Charles Lee Brenton, originally published by Samuel Bagster & Sons, London, in 1844, in English only. From the 1851 edition, the Apocrypha were included, and by about 1870, [1] an edition with parallel Greek text existed; [2] another one appeared in 1884.
The Septuaginta: Vetus Testamentum Graecum [a] (SVTG), also known as the Göttingen Septuagint, is a critical edition of the Greek Old Testament prepared in Göttingen and published by Vandenhoeck & Ruprecht. The project was founded by Alfred Rahlfs in 1908, and continues today under the direction of Reinhard G. Kratz and Felix Albrecht.
The Septuagint (/ ˈ s ɛ p tj u ə dʒ ɪ n t / SEP-tew-ə-jint), [1] sometimes referred to as the Greek Old Testament or The Translation of the Seventy (Koinē Greek: Ἡ μετάφρασις τῶν Ἑβδομήκοντα, romanized: Hē metáphrasis tôn Hebdomḗkonta), and abbreviated as LXX, [2] is the earliest extant Greek translation of the Hebrew Bible from the original Biblical Hebrew.
Theodotion's translation was so widely copied in the Early Christian church that its version of the Book of Daniel virtually superseded the Septuagint's. The Septuagint Daniel survives in only two known manuscripts, Codex Chisianus 88 (rediscovered in the 1770s), and Papyrus 967 (discovered 1931).

The Book of Daniel is preserved in the 12-chapter Masoretic Text and in two longer Greek versions: the original Septuagint version, c. 100 BCE, and the later Theodotion version from c. 2nd century CE. Both Greek texts contain the three additions to Daniel. The Masoretic text does not.
Thomson's Translation of the Bible is a direct translation of the Greek Septuagint version of the Old Testament into English, rare for its time. It took Charles Thomson, the secretary of the Continental Congress from 1774 to 1789 and a Founding Father of the United States, 19 years to complete, and was originally published in 1808.
The Psalms were published in 2000 and the complete Septuagint in 2007. The NETS translators selected the best critical editions of the Septuagint, primarily the larger Göttingen Septuagint (as far as it was completed at the time of translation) and Alfred Rahlfs' manual edition for the books still missing from the Göttingen edition.
