The Gibson ES series of semi-acoustic guitars (hollow body electric guitars) are manufactured by the Gibson Guitar Corporation.. The letters ES stand for Electric Spanish, to distinguish them from Hawaiian-style lap steel guitars which are played flat on the lap.
The Gibson ES-295 (1952–1959) is a hollow body guitar which was built by the Gibson Guitar Company. The ES-295 was introduced in May 1952 as a fancier version of the ES-175. The 295 had the same measurements as the ES-175, but it came in gold finish and featured a combination trapeze bridge/tailpiece.
The body was 3.375 in (8.57 cm) and it was 16.25 in (41.3 cm) at the lower bout. [1] The guitar had a maple laminated top, back and sides, with a set-neck made of mahogany. In 1968 Gibson changed the 330 to meet the body at the 19th. The 330 was hollow, whereas the 335 had a center block to prevent feedback. The 330 had P-90 pickups, while the 335 had humbuckers. [2] The 330 had a mahogany neck with dot inlays and a 22-fret Brazilian Rosewood fretboard. The guitar also had a nickel-plated trapeze-style tailpiece. [1]
