Kwame Ture (/ ˈ k w ɑː m eɪ ˈ t ʊər eɪ /; born Stokely Standiford Churchill Carmichael; June 29, 1941 – November 15, 1998) was an American activist who played a major role in the civil rights movement in the United States and the global pan-African movement.
The association was founded on 5 June 1967 at a meeting of 76 members of the Black British community in Notting Hill, London. [2] [3] The UCPA's development as a black power organisation was driven by Stokely Carmichael's July 1967 visit to Britain, where he spoke at the Dialectics of Liberation Congress in London. [4]

Hamilton.The work defines Black Power, presents insights into the roots of racism in the United States and suggests a means of reforming the traditional political process for the future.
Civil Rights leaders often proposed passive, non-violent tactics while the black power movement felt that, in the words of Stokely Carmichael and Charles V. Hamilton, "a 'non-violent' approach to civil rights is an approach black people cannot afford and a luxury white people do not deserve."

Featured in the 1967 recap within the film, Stokely Carmichael is seen offering his thoughts on Dr. King in a vintage interview.
