As the name implies, Imam Muhammad Anwaarullah Farooqui is a descendant of the second Caliph of Islam,‘Umar Al Farooq through his ancestors who descend from Shaykh Badruddin Sulaiman, the eldest son of Shaykh Fariduddin Ganjshakar.
It was founded by Anwarullah Farooqui, honorifically known as Fadilat Jung (the title was bestowed upon him by the Nizam), in Hyderabad in 1876. [2] It flourished under the patronage of the Nizam of Hyderabad, Mir Osman Ali Khan. It is located in the Hussaini alam area of today's old city, Hyderabad.

Abul Wafa Al-Afghani was born in Qandahar on 10 Dhu al-Hijjah 1310 AH (25 June 1893 AD). His father, Syed Mubarak Shah Qadri, was an Islamic scholar. [2] [3] [4]He came to India from Qandhar for study and studied with scholars in Rampur and Gujarat in his teenage years.
