Needham Town Hall is located in the village center of the town, which is roughly near its geographic center. It is set between Chapel Street (west) and Highland Avenue (east), and faces south, across the town common to Great Plain Avenue (Massachusetts Route 135). It is a 2-1/2 story brick structure, with a gabled slate roof and granite foundation.

Baker turned part of his property into an amusement park with exotic animals, tunnels, trick floors and mirrors. In 1888 he built a sizable hotel, near the intersection of present-day Whitman Road and Charles River Street, called the Hotel Wellesley which had a capacity of over 300 guests. The Charles River Peninsula is a 30-acre (12 ha) nature preserve in Needham, Massachusetts owned and managed by the Trustees of Reservations. The Charles River turns nearly 180 degrees, creating the peninsula. A 20-acre (8 ha) field on the peninsula was farmed for roughly a century.
