The Fordson E27N Major was an upgrade to the Fordson N and was made in England from March 1945, having the same engine and transmission as the Model N, but in a new casting which allowed for a PTO and a hydraulic lift unit manufactured by either Smiths or Varley. The differential however was of a completely new design.

Below the NAA's new hood was a 134-cu.in., overhead-valve, gas-burning inline four-cylinder engine worth 32 hp. Ford's British Fordson tractors were readily available with diesel engines, but in the States, diesels were still uncommon. A kerosene-burning NAA, known as the NAB, was an option but found few buyers.
