King Ranch is the largest ranch in the United States. At some 825,000 acres (3,340 km 2 ; 1,289 sq mi) [ 3 ] it is larger than both the land area of Rhode Island and the area of the European country Luxembourg . [ 4 ]
The main section of the ranch is located near the town of Guthrie in King County, Texas. [1] [2] It spans 350,000 acres (550 sq mi; 140,000 ha) of land. The Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex, officially designated Dallas–Fort Worth–Arlington by the U.S. Office of Management and Budget, [a] is the most populous metropolitan statistical area in the U.S. state of Texas and the Southern United States, encompassing 11 counties.
