It is unclear how many woredas actually exist in the Somali Region, since the names and number of woredas given in the CSA's documents differ between 2005 and 2007, [1] and different maps [2] [3] show a variety of names and boundaries.

Puntland is a federal state in the northeast of Somalia. Galmudug is a federal state in central Somalia. Jubaland is a federal state in the south of Somalia. [2] In November 2014, the South West State of Somalia was established. [3] Hirshabelle State was formed in October 2016. [4] Khatumo State in the north central region was recognized in 2023.
