Salvo Montalbano investigates the murder of Lapecora, a middle-aged accountant, found stabbed in the back in the lift of the building where he lived. Under questioning, the victim's widow bitterly accuses her husband's mistress, a beautiful Tunisian woman named Kherima, who vanished on the day of the murder, taking with her François, her six-year-old son.

The BBC acquired the series in late 2012, [4] and the first episode was broadcast by BBC Four in the UK on 7 September 2013. [5] In April 2012, it was reported that filming for a second series should start in late 2013. [6] It was delayed until August 2014. [7] The second series was broadcast in Italy during September and October 2015. [8]
The first series was broadcast between 1 February and 8 March 2018, consisting of 6 episodes. A Christmas special followed, which was released on 14 December of the same year. The success of the first series led to a second being commissioned, which aired for another 6 episodes, all episodes being available for streaming on 3 November 2019 ...
The show introduced Sean's flatmate Errol (played by Serafinowicz in series 1, episodes 2–5). [10] [11] Both radio series (Sean Lock's 15 Minutes of Misery and Sean Lock: 15 Storeys High) were recorded in front of a studio audience. The theme tune used for both series is the 1960s song "England Swings" by Roger Miller. [7]
