Bannerghatta National Park : is a national park in India, located In Bengaluru and Ramanagara District, Karnataka. It was founded in 1970 and declared as a national park in 1974. [ 1 ] In 2002, a small portion of the park became a zoological garden, the Bannerghatta Biological Park .
Bannerghatta Biological Park, also known as the Bannerghatta Zoo, is a zoological garden located in the city of Bengaluru. It was initially a small zoo and picnic corner within Bannerghatta National Park (BNP) which was started in 1974. The bifurcation of the Biological Park and the National Park took place in 2002.

Bannerghatta National Park is situated 22 km south of Bangalore. This hilly place is the home for one of the richest natural, zoological reserves. The 25,000 hectares (101 km 2) zoological park makes this a major tourist attraction of Bangalore, which is very crowded during weekends and holidays.
It is an elephant country and contains two traditional elephant corridors. With the Bannerghatta National Park in the North east and Cauvery Wildlife Sanctuary in the south, the forest range stretches to sanctuaries of BR Hills and Sathyamangala and joins the tiger reserves of Nilgiri Biosphere.
A Mahadeshwara temple is there in the village on west side of the Tattekere lake, situated in elephant corridor of Bannerghatta National Park and it is a birdwatching place. [2] Another tourist attraction Muthyalamaduvu is nearby.
The town is a tourism hotspot and an often visited tourist favorite in the entire state of Karnataka, as it has something for everyone ranging from avid trekkers to history buffs and wildlife enthusiasts. The forest area in this taluk is very wide and about half of the Bannerghatta National Park is located in our Kanakapura area.
The second phase would be taken up next year. Another NHAI official said the 56-km Phase II has been kept on hold as it passes through the boundaries of eco-sensitive Bannerghatta National Park. [3] The 80 km stretch of Dabaspete-Hoskote section of National Highway 648, also being a part of the STRR was inaugurated on 11 March 2024. [4]
