The Czech Republic, presented as Czechia since 2023, has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 12 times since making its debut in 2007.After receiving nul points in the semi-final of the 2009 contest and due to a lack of interest from the Czech public, Czech broadcaster Czech Television (ČT) decided to withdraw from the contest. Czechia was drawn to compete in the second semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest which took place on 9 May 2024. Performing during the show in position 5, "Pedestal" was not announced among the top 10 entries of the second semi-final and therefore did not qualify to compete in the final.
ESCZ 2022 was the national final organised by ČT in order to select the Czech entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2022. Seven entries participated in the competition which took place online between 7 and 15 December 2021, with the winner being selected via a jury and public vote and announced on 16 December 2021.
The Eurovision Song Contest 2024 took place at the Malmö Arena in Malmö, Sweden, and consisted of two semi-finals held on the respective dates of 7 and 9 May and the final on 11 May 2024. Its best result in the contest was sixth, achieved in 2018 with the song "Lie to Me" performed by Mikolas Josef.
Czechia was set to perform in position 13, following the entry from Azerbaijan and before the entry from the Netherlands. [20] The Czech spokesperson, who announced the top 12-point score awarded by the Czech jury during the final, was Radka Rosická.
