A view of pump-jets operating Two of four KaMeWa waterjets on the high-speed ferry Discovery Typical jet ski pump jet. A pump-jet, hydrojet, or water jet is a marine system that produces a jet of water for propulsion. The mechanical arrangement may be a ducted propeller (axial-flow pump), a centrifugal pump, or a mixed flow pump which is a ...

A pump-jet, hydrojet, water jet, or jet drive uses a ducted propeller (axial-flow pump), centrifugal pump, or mixed flow pump to create a jet of water for propulsion. These incorporate an intake for source water and a nozzle to direct its flow out, generating momentum, and in most cases, employing thrust vectoring to steer the craft.
The TR-1 marine engine weighs 160 lbs and is 30"L by 21"W by 19"H inches in size, producing 100 hp. It has an integrated oil tank, ECU and air filter onto the engine. The launch price is $9,499 USD and the ski is still Made in Japan (as all past Super Jets have been).

The JT15D was first run in 1967. Its use of a centrifugal compressor as the high-pressure stage in a turbofan engine was followed in 1970 by the Garrett TFE731. [1] The fan for the original JT15D-1 was aerodynamically scaled to 75 lb/sec using the much larger JT9D fan. [2] About 70% of the air passing through the fan goes down the bypass duct.
