General Lucius D. Clay National Guard Center (formerly Naval Air Station Atlanta) is a military facility located 1-mile (1.6 km) south of Marietta, Georgia, United States. It is located immediately south of Dobbins Air Reserve Base and shares its runways .
The mission of the 78th’s more than 574 pilots, aircrew, maintenance, and support personnel is to mobilize and deploy aviation forces for providing command and control, air movement, and air assault operations in support of combat operations worldwide, as well as to provide aviation support during state and national emergencies in response to homeland defense operations.
The primary responsibility of Atlanta Center is sequencing and separation of over-flights, arrivals, and departures in order to provide safe, orderly, and expeditious flow of aircraft. Atlanta Center is the busiest air traffic control facility in the world. In 2019, Atlanta Center handled 3,022,513 aircraft operations.
Once home-stationed in Decatur, it has, since Jan. 11, 2011, occupied the former headquarters of Naval Air Station Atlanta at what has become the Clay National Guard Center since late September 2009.
