Blade Runner: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack is the soundtrack for Ridley Scott's 1982 science-fiction noir film Blade Runner, composed by Greek electronic musician Vangelis. It has received acclaim as an influential work in the history of electronic music and one of Vangelis's best works. [ 3 ]
It featured some previously released tracks from Vangelis's other albums, as well as some pieces from movie soundtracks that had not previously been released. The album is notable because it marked the first official appearances of Vangelis' music from the films Blade Runner , The Bounty , and Missing .
Vangelis released two albums in 2007; the first was a 3-CD set for the 25th anniversary of Blade Runner, titled Blade Runner Trilogy and second was the soundtrack for the Greek movie, El Greco directed by Yannis Smaragdis, titled El Greco Original Motion Picture Soundtrack. [82]
He began his music career in the 1960s with the Greek progressive rock band Aphrodite's Child and in the 1970s began composing electronic music. He gained wide mainstream popularity after composing soundtracks to the films Chariots of Fire (1981) and Blade Runner (1982). [ 1 ]
Vangelis, the Greek electronic musician who won the Oscar for his “Chariots of Fire” score, also scored “Blade Runner” and “Blade Runner 2049."
The 2xCD compilation was released in order to coincide with the 2012 Summer Olympics, where Vangelis's music from Chariots of Fire was used. [1] The compilation includes 31 tracks from his scores, solo albums and collaborations.

Aphrodite's Child was a Greek rock and pop band formed in 1967, by Evangelos Papathanassiou, later known professionally as Vangelis (keyboards, flutes), Demis Roussos (bass, acoustic and electric guitar, vocals), Loukas Sideras (drums and vocals), and Silver Koulouris (guitar). [1]
