Qeqertarsuaq or Herbert Island is an island in Baffin Bay near Qaanaaq in the Avannaata municipality, NW Greenland. [1] The island has an area of 223 km 2. Qeqertarsuaq, meaning "Large Island", is the name of several other places in Greenland. It is also the name of an abandoned fishing village located near the eastern end of the island. [2]
It is an arm of Baffin Bay in northeastern Baffin Island. The inlet flows in a southwestern direction and includes a northern arm that juts off the main inlet close to the mouth. Nova Zembla Island and Round Island are located near the mouth of Coutts Inlet. The inlet is frequented by narwhals. [1]

The Baffin Bay has three branches, which are named as follows (counterclockwise on the map above): Alazan Bay on the north (green), Cayo del Grullo (purple) and Laguna Salada (blue).
