The first Arenac Courthouse, dating from 1883, burned in 1889. The county built this second courthouse at the same site in 1890, but in 1892 a county-wide vote moved the county seat to Standish. This building became the Omer Masonic Hall until the Lodge move in 1997. It is now owned by the Arenac County Historical Society.
The Norwayne Historic District, or Norwayne Subdivision, is an historic residential subdivision, originally built for World War II defense workers. It is located in Westland, Michigan and roughly bounded by Palmer Road on the north, Wildwood Road on the west, Merriman Road on the east, and Glenwood Road and the Wayne County Lower Rouge Parkway on the south.
Located at 5510 Woodward Avenue, it was designated a Michigan State Historic Site in 1958. [2] It is located near to the East Ferry Avenue Historic District and Cultural Center Historic District, and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1971. [1] The house has been owned by Wayne State University since September 2014. [3]
The Ernest Hemingway Cottage is a single-story frame structure with a gabled roof and white clapboard siding [6] measuring 20 feet by 40 feet. [5] The main section of the cottage contains the sleeping and living rooms, along with a bathroom and utility closet.
