A Royal Air Maroc Boeing 737-800 lands at Atatürk Airport in 2007. Royal Air Maroc (RAM), Morocco's national airline, [1] was founded in July 1953 () from the merger of Air Maroc and Air Atlas. [2] As of February 2014, RAM served a network comprising over 90 destinations, of which 56 are international ones.
Terminal 1 was designed by Frederick Gibberd, who also designed the earlier Europa Building (renamed Terminal 2) and the adjacent Queens Building. It opened to passengers in 1968, and it was formally opened by Queen Elizabeth II in April 1969. [4] At the time, Terminal 1 was the biggest short-haul terminal of its kind in Western Europe. [5]

On 4 June 2014, United became the first airline to move into Terminal 2 from Terminals 1 and 4 followed by All Nippon Airways, Air Canada and Air China from Terminal 3. Air New Zealand , Asiana Airlines , Croatia Airlines , LOT Polish Airlines , South African Airways , and TAP Air Portugal moved in on 22 October 2014.
Terminal 3 was added in 2012, and the airport was renamed in honor of Senator Reid in 2021. Reid is served by over 30 airlines and is an operating base for Allegiant Air, Frontier Airlines, JSX, Southwest Airlines, and Spirit Airlines. [6] Southwest became its dominant carrier in the 1990s.
