The Sand Fire was a wildfire in 2016 that burned in the Angeles National Forest, east of the Santa Clarita Valley in Los Angeles County, California. [2] The fire, named for the area's Sand Canyon , was fueled by heavy chaparral and brush.
Additional parcels of land to the northeast were gradually annexed between 1989 and 1992. The westernmost and southernmost properties of Sand Canyon were annexed in 2012 and 2013, respectively. [2] In 2016, the canyon was the site of a major wildfire known as the Sand Fire. [3]
