St. Peter's and St. Joseph's Catholic Churches are two historic Catholic churches in Oconto, Wisconsin, United States, both built in the 1890s. On November 10, 1980, they were added together to the National Register of Historic Places .

Old St. Joseph Church, which is still an active church, was built in 1890 and renovated in 1998. [12] [13] It is located on the site of a former mission chapel that was erected for early settlers by the French-born Jesuit priest Rev. Charles Albane in 1676. The chapel stood for nearly 200 years.
The next church to be constructed in the Green Bay area was St. John the Evangelist. Founded by Reverend Samuel Mazzuchelli in 1831; it is the longest continuously used church in Wisconsin. [3] In 1833, the new Diocese of Detroit assumed jurisdiction over the area. St. John Nepomucene Parish in Little Chute was founded in 1836. [6]
The only church in the diocese was St. Peter's, which was deeply in debt. [7] Henni in 1845 founded St. Francis Seminary, allowing the seminarians to stay in his residence. He also brought several orders of nuns and priests to Milwaukee. [8] In 1846, Henni completed Old St. Mary's Church in Milwaukee, the second Catholic church in Milwaukee. [9]
