The Tbilisi Medical Academy (TMA) was established in 1992 by Petre Shotadze, a distinguished Georgian physician and paediatric surgeon. Shotadze, a graduate of Tbilisi State Medical University in 1970, dedicated his entire doctoral, scientific, and academic career to the Tbilisi State Institute of Postgraduate Education for Physicians.
