The area roughly corresponds to the section of Grand River Avenue and Shiawassee Avenue from Warner Street to junction of Grand River and Shiawassee.
Ward was started on May 1, 1956, in the Lincoln School in Livonia, Michigan. In 1960, Ward relocated to the corner of Farmington and 6 Mile. As the church was growing, Ward kept expanding. In 1972, an 1,100-seat sanctuary was opened, and in 1978, Knox Hall, the Calvin Room, and Children's and Student ministry spaces were completed.

A new building was erected in 1928 at 5151 W. Chicago Avenue and the church was renamed "Nardin Park". The name was taken from the park and the subdivision where the church was located. The decision to relocate and to build a new building was made in the early 1960s. Twenty acres were purchased in Farmington Township, with ground breaking in 1963.
