The Wessex Gospels (also known as the West-Saxon Gospels) are a translation of the four gospels of the Christian Bible into a West Saxon dialect of Old English. Produced from approximately AD 990 [1] in England, this version is the first translation of all four gospels into stand-alone Old English text. Seven manuscript copies survive.

A Bible concordance is a concordance, or verbal index, to the Bible. A simple form lists Biblical words alphabetically, with indications to enable the inquirer to find the passages of the Bible where the words occur. [1] Concordances may be for the original languages of the Biblical books, or (more commonly) they are compiled for translations.
Cædmon (~657–684) is mentioned by Bede as one who sang poems in Old English based on the Bible stories, but he was not involved in translation per se. Bede ( c. 672–735) produced a translation of the Gospel of John into Old English, which he is said to have prepared shortly before his death.
