Stingaree is an American pre-Code romantic drama film directed by William A. Wellman released by RKO Radio Pictures in 1934. The film was based on a 1905 novel by Ernest William Hornung . Set in Australia , it stars Irene Dunne as Hilda Bouverie and Richard Dix as Stingaree . [ 2 ]

[1] This species shares the southern extent of its range with the banded stingaree (U. cruciatus).

The crossback stingaree is found close to the sea floor. The distribution of the crossback stingaree mainly encompasses the coastal waters of Victoria and Tasmania, where it is quite abundant; it ranges as far east as Jervis Bay in New South Wales, and as far west as Beachport in South Australia.
