Nakagyō-ku (中京区) is one of the eleven wards in the city of Kyoto, in Kyoto Prefecture, Japan. Its name means "central capital ward." As of 2021, the ward has an estimated population of 109,629 people. Tourism, shopping, and entertainment are the primary sources of income in the area.
Since 17 June 1963 when the Hankyu Kyoto Line was extended to Kawaramachi Station, the station is no longer terminus and is called Ōmiya Station, after the street name. Station numbering was introduced to all Hankyu stations on 21 December 2013 with this station being designated as station number HK-84.
Mibu-dera (壬生寺) is a Buddhist temple in Nakagyō-ku, Kyoto. In the Middle Ages, the temple revived a performance created by the Yuzu Nembutsu monk Engaku known as the Dai Nembutsu Kyōgen.
