Cowan Lake State Park is a 1,075-acre (435 ha) public recreation area in Clinton County, Ohio, in the United States. It is operated by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources . The state park is open for year-round recreation and is known for a variety of birds that attract birdwatching enthusiasts to the park in southwestern Ohio.

[7] In addition to sailing, activities on the lake include fishing, canoeing, kayaking, and swimming. [8] A group of sailors formed the club in 1954 for the purpose of holding regattas and promoting sailing.
Cowan River [1] is a river in the west-central part of the Canadian province of Saskatchewan in the boreal forest ecozone of Canada. [2] The river begins at Cowan Lake Dam [3] near the northern end of Cowan Lake and flows north-west through muskeg and forest to meet Beaver River.

Today, the Circular Enclosure lies near the shore of Cowan Lake; the underwater site of the Cowan Creek Mound is only about 300 feet (90 m) away, [3] and the enclosure lies in the middle of a peninsula in the lake. The site is now located within Cowan Lake State Park, slightly less than 1 mile (1.6 km) south of the present State Route 730.
The land for the park was acquired in 1948, and a dam at the west side of the lake was completed in 1950, [2] which created the lake. [3] Since the park's inception, there was a wastewater leak that damaged the ecology of the lake. [4]
