Yet since a few days Yahoo has replaced my standard search engine (google) whenever I type in a search in the top-right textbox. I've checked all settings and nothing has changed. Google is my standard searchengine still.

You can set the home page to be Yahoo if you want. See How to set the home page. If you want to set multiple pages to open when Firefox starts, separate each one with a pipe | character. However, I think you are probably getting a "homepage" confused with a "search engine". You can set Yahoo as your default search engine and/or your homepage.

In the search or enter website name window click on the magnifying glass. This gives you the drop down box of the 4 search engines available on MAC. Choose anyone and it will hopefully change from Yahoo.
