Haile Plantation, an unincorporated community and New Urbanist planned development, is a 2,600-household, 1,700-acre (690 ha) development of regional impact southwest of the city of Gainesville, within Alachua County, Florida, United States.
Kanapaha was a community southwest of Gainesville at , on the Florida Railroad midway to Archer. The community included the Haile Plantation and the Kanapaha Presbyterian Church, founded in 1858, which still meets in a building constructed in 1886. A post office was established in 1887 and closed in 1907.
For much of the 20th century, the Cellon family owned the area, using it as pasture. [1] Nearby Cellon Oak Park in Gainesville is named after the family. The land was once set to be used for housing for the Turkey Creek community, of which there are around 2,200 residents, as of 2021.
