If your Larsen retractable screen door won't retract, remove the roller screen and remove the roller spring assy (see images). After 8 years my spring simply unrolled itself off the threaded end piece. Had I not already cut the screen, I could have rewound the spring and re-assembled the screen/glass into the door.

It doesn't have instructions on where to put the shims for a gap at the top or bottom. The door is hitting the frame at the bottom of the latch side and can be forced in enough for the latch to catch, but still a gap of about half an inch is left at the top. If not latched there is a gap of 3/4 of an inch. There is no binding at the bottom and ...

Make a spanner from a 1x2 that perfectly matches the width of the screen (one for the height, too) Place it across the the frame and put in your screening. That way the normal motion of installing the spline won't tend to bow in the skinny frames. You can remove the spanner when through. The screen should be tight.

Power is available at the motor, makes a "klunk" sound when attempting to activate, but screen does not move. Various attempts to access the motor by removing the cover/fairing have failed; this guy ...
Take it down, get replacement bushing kit from a storm door sales store, putt the long rod from the hinge area,(it slides out the top), pull the hinge apart, loosening all the worn nylon bushings, then start slowly reinstalling a set of bushings, slide the rod down to the next bushing area, install another set.
Hi, I'm looking to install a low-e storm door. I love the Larson tradewind design (1/2 screen on top via pulldown) but it got horrible reviews where it breaks after a year, finish comes off, etc. anderson 4000 is either full glass or full screen, and because of my dog likely to be full glass for me. However the reviews are much better.

Not sure if that is the issue, but the door is not closing evenly from the hinge side to latch side. You can see it looking down at your threshold.
The others are fine and will suffice, but I would not say they are "premium". There is a difference between a $200 door and a $600 door. Replacement Windows, doors, siding, roofing, insulation, and BPI certified energy consulting, Building Analyst 5051322. www.HomeSealed.com.
