Off-Grid Solar For Dummies – Putting A System Together From Scratch Don’t let the title fool ya’…I’m the dummy here. And as “from scratch” goes, it’s me scratching my head a lot more than I like to. There are many on this board that can do this stuff blindfolded; electricity is not my strong...

And I'm seeing lightly used solar panels now in the 300-400 watt ranges for under $100. And the rest of the separate system components can be sourced as per individual needs. Added: As far as EV's go, no. Thay are not ready for prime time and neither is the grid in the U.S., much less the U.K. I'll not buy an EV.
I will attempt to help those who are starting down the solar/wind generator road. Let's start at the beginning and figure out how much power you actually need. :thumb: Adding up your energy needs. Add each appliance by watts and hours of use each day. (WH=watt hours) Example : 5 Hi-Eff...
Solar panel/battery charger. I need help! I am trying to find a multi folding solar panel, 7-8in x 10-12in. that unfolds 3 or 4panels long. You'll need other sources of power, for me, solar systems i have..
If you are wanting some sort of off-grid power - I can tell you what I have going - that seems to work. I have a 12-Volt, 30-watt solar panel, a charge controller and a 12-Volt, 17Ah SLA (sealed lead-acid) battery.
Wow! That's quite a system. I appreciate your posting the info as it provides a very good idea what's really needed off grid, especially if AC is necessary. We don't have enough space for a 30kw solar, and I'd have to sell the house to afford it.
749 at the local home depot (which is the only place that sells it) and only comes with 2 battery packs (so you would need to buy 2 more for full use) and... it can't be hooked to solar panels for charging off grid or during a power outage.
