Kilronan Castle, previously known as Castle Tenison, is a large country house standing in 40 acres (16 ha) of parkland on the shore of Lough Meelagh in County Roscommon, Republic of Ireland, 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) from the village of Ballyfarnon.
Kilronan Castle Hotel can be seen on walks to Lough Meelagh, the former home of the Earl of Kingston, and Alderford House, the last home of Turlough O'Carolan, is adjacent to the village. Turlough O'Carolan is buried in nearby Kilronan Abbey. There is also a primary school, church, and GAA grounds in the area. [5]
Kilronan Castle lies on the shores of Lough Meelagh which also borders the town. Previously in ruins, it was restored and converted into a hotel in 2008. Keadue is a twice overall winner of the Irish Tidy Towns Competition in 1993 and 2003, as well as numerous awards for the tidiest town in the county.
