Michael Ryan Gottfredson [1] (born January 16, 1951) is the former President of the University of Oregon, serving from August 1, 2012 to August 6, 2014. Biography
He was the second husband of Linda Gottfredson, and one of 52 signatories on "Mainstream Science on Intelligence, [1]" a public statement written by Gottfredson, published in response to popular criticism of the conclusions presented in the controversial book The Bell Curve.
The theory was developed by Michael Gottfredson and Travis Hirschi in their book A General Theory of Crime (1990). Gottfredson and Hirschi define self-control as the differentiating tendency of individuals to avoid criminal acts independent of the situations in which they find themselves. [ 6 ]
