Building a gaming PC is worth it if you're looking for a premium experience and also would use it for more than just gaming (photo/video/3d rendering/etc). I don't think I'd ever drop big money on a PC just to game on it. Not for more than like $800ish, 1000 tops. For the price, current gen consoles are actually the better value for visuals alone.
The gaming PC gets a 7950x with a 360mm AIO and a X670 board, as the AM5 platform will have future support. I recommend waiting for the 7950x3D. 32gb of RAM, 2tb SSD, 8tb HDD. The productivity build gets a 13900k, as it's better for video work and stuff. 360mm AIO, Z790 board, 64gb RAM, 2X2tb SSD, 8tb HDD.
Best Mini PC for gaming as of 2023. I'm looking for a Mini PC suitable for gaming as an alternative to consoles (since I need Windows). I don't want to spend money on one of those compact pc crap that don't have adequate cooling and thermal throttles more frequently than it snows on the Arctic.
If you have a 1k+ budget, pc. If your budget is lower a console will be better! If you can afford to spend more on Day 1, you can save much more in the long run. A Solid Gaming PC costs around 500-600$ (Target: 1080p, 60fps, mid/ high settings), which is higher than consoles.
Q&A. [deleted] •• Edited. The PS5 has the capability to output a 4K 120hz signal. The number of games that run at a native 4K 120fps on a PS5 are minimal. Even the games that run at 4K on the PS5 are either not native due to checkerboarding, using dynamic resolutions, or running at 30fps. The PS5 is equivalent to a midrange pc. Reply reply.
