Robert Baden-Powell chose to name his organization for girls "the Girl Guides". In the United States and several East Asian countries the term "Girl Scout" is used instead.
In 1975–86, in compliance with the orders of Pres. Marcos, the Boy Scouts of the Philippines was renamed "Kapatirang Scout ng Pilipinas" (literally meaning Scout Brotherhood of the Philippines). The Scout age groups were reduced from four to two. The Scout Oath and Scout Law were revised, and a new Scout badge was devised.
The Asia-Pacific Scout Region has witnessed the births and rebirths of national Scout organizations since the region was founded in 1969. Starting with ten founding members, it grew to 33 member countries as of 2024, encompassing 35 million Scouts. Eight of the 15 largest Scout associations in the world are in the Region.

Benitez was the Chairman of the Girl Scouts of the Philippines Central Committee, while Josefa became the group's first National Executive. At the time of the charter, there were 1,000 Girl Scouts in the Philippines. [29]
