Reeves County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2020 census, its population was 14,748. [1] Its county seat and most populous city is Pecos. [2] The county was created in 1883 and organized the next year. [3] It is named for George R. Reeves, a Texas state legislator and colonel in the Confederate Army.
Loving County was originally split off of Reeves County in 1887. It was merged back into Reeves County ten years later, and was reorganized in 1931. [4] It is located in West Texas, just south of the New Mexico state border. Reeves County is to its south and west, Ward County is to its south, and Winkler County is to its east.
