Football Club Groningen (Dutch pronunciation: [ɛfˈseː ˈɣroːnɪŋə(n)]) is a Dutch professional association football club based in Groningen, Groningen province. Founded in 1971 as the successor of GVAV , Groningen compete in the Eredivisie , the first tier of Dutch football , following promotion from the 2023–24 Eerste Divisie .
The 2023–24 season was FC Groningen's 53rd season in existence and their first one back in the Eerste Divisie since 2000 after enduring a disastrous campaign the previous season. [1]

The 2020–21 season was the 65th season in existence of FC Groningen and the club's 54th (21st consecutive) season in the top flight of Dutch football. In addition to the domestic league, FC Groningen participated in this season's edition of the KNVB Cup. The season covered the period from 1 July 2020 to 30 June 2021.
