The Alderbrook Inn was purchased by North Forty Lodging in 2001. The 18-hole golf course was sold to the Alderbrook Golf and Yacht Club, the 450-member homeowners association for residences surrounding the course. [33] In 2002, North Forty Lodging announced plans to transform the resort into a 4-star hotel, spa, and conference center. [34]
A post office called Edgewick was established in 1912, and remained in operation until 1919. [2] The community's name is an amalgamation of Vinnedge and Weeks, the names of two settlers. [3] The town was completely destroyed in a dam burst known locally as the "Boxley Blowout." [4]
