John O. Mitchell (1858–1921) was an American politician who served as the 8th and 10th Mayor of Tulsa. He was the first mayor to be elected to non-consecutive terms. He invested heavily in west Tulsa real estate. He is one of two mayors, the other being Herman Frederick Newblock, who served non-consecutive terms. [7]
David Teegarden is an American musician who was a member of the American psych-rock group Teegarden & Van Winkle. [1] He is a resident of Tulsa , Oklahoma . Teegarden has worked with many musicians including J. J. Cale , Eric Clapton , Joe Walsh , and Bob Seger .
Established in 1922, it has been called the voice of Black Tulsa and is a successor to the Tulsa Star newspaper, which burned in the 1921 Tulsa race massacre.
