The lists are based on the official lists provided by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, National Historical Commission of the Philippines, and the National Museum of the Philippines. The lists have been subdivided per region.
The map was based on the scientific map by Fr. Murillo Velarde a famous French Jesuit in 1734. The names of places indicated in the map are the original names from Velarde's map. It was intended as a motivating device for teaching geography and history to Rizal's pupils in Dapitan and part of Rizal's beautification project to the town plaza.
