Cake4Kids is a nonprofit that provides custom birthday and celebration cakes to underserved children. They have delivered thousands of cakes to kids all over the country and Boston is ready to get in on the sweetness!
Cake4Kids was founded in September, 2010 in Sunnyvale, CA by Libby Gruender to provide free birthday cakes to foster children and at-risk youth in the San Francisco Bay Area. Libby read an article about a young girl, who was in foster care in the Midwest, receiving her first birthday cake.
Over the last year and a half, the 300-plus bakers who are part of the chapter have made more than 1,000 cakes for kids who are in foster care, shelters and other programs where they might not always get a special cake for graduations, birthdays and other milestones.
Many organizations deliver flowers, fruit, packages and personal messages, but one in Northern Virginia delivers love – along with cakes. Libby Gruender founded Cake4Kids in California 13 years ago to provide homemade cakes to local children on their birthdays.
Some of our most cherished moments revolve around choosing and creating cakes to celebrate with our loved ones. However, we also became aware of the fact that many kids in our local area don't have the opportunity to experience this simple joy. That's when we came across Cake4Kids.
